The workshop

My computer used to be a suite of other people’s programs: email, office software, WhatsApp, a browser full of open tabs. This is what replaced it.

Everything I love and everything I’m making sits in front of me, as lights around one fire. What matters now stays by the fire. The rest rests upstairs, whole, until I bring it down. My focus holds, and the surface I spend my days on is beautiful and doesn’t wear me out.

It’s customisable and it’s my own. I don’t have to accept somebody else’s template for what my days should look like. I step into a room, say what I’d like to make, and it gets made beside me.

So the computer becomes a creative space, for reflection as well as for making. These are the rooms so far. Some are out in the world; the rest are still being played in.

Out in the world

Still being made
